About Power Bank Check

Power Bank Check is a free, independent tool that helps travellers quickly verify whether their power bank is allowed on their flight — and under what conditions.

What We Do

Airlines allow most power banks on board, but the rules are more complicated than a single yes or no. The permitted size depends on the battery's energy in watt-hours (Wh), which most power bank labels do not show directly. On top of that, individual airlines add their own restrictions — some now ban in-flight use entirely, others limit the number of devices per passenger, and some require government certification marks.

Our calculator converts your power bank's mAh rating into watt-hours, checks it against the universal IATA carry-on limits, and where possible shows you the specific policy of your airline. We cover over 200 airlines and update our database whenever carriers change their rules.

Our Data Sources

Airline power bank policies come from a mix of official sources:

  • IATA Lithium Battery Guidance — the international standard followed by most airlines worldwide
  • FAA Pack Safe — US Federal Aviation Administration guidance
  • TSA — Transportation Security Administration rules for US-departing flights
  • Individual airline baggage policy pages and official announcements
  • Civil aviation authority notices (CAAC, EASA, CASA, BCAS, and others)

Every guide article on this site cites its sources directly. Airline policies can change — we recommend checking your airline's official website for the most current information before you travel.

Who Runs This Site

Power Bank Check is built and operated by NomadWorld. We created it as an independent project for travellers frustrated by unclear and outdated information about battery rules at airports. The site is not affiliated with any airline, aviation authority, or power bank manufacturer. We do not sell power banks or receive commissions from device purchases.

Accuracy and Disclaimer

We make every effort to keep information accurate and current. However, airline policies change frequently — sometimes with little notice — and individual airport security procedures may vary from published rules. The information on this site is provided for general guidance only and does not constitute legal or official aviation advice.

Always verify with your airline directly before travelling, particularly if your power bank is close to a limit (near 100 Wh or 160 Wh) or if you are flying on a carrier that recently updated its policies.
